PERSEVERANCE OR CHOTA FOTCUT?

I’d first like to thank Abhinav who has instigated me through his maiden blog to pursue my PERSISTENTLY avoided desire of writing a blog.

Is persistence the only ladder to success or there is any such thing like FOTCUT? And if there is, is it always via a supposedly wrong track? Do all pioneers follow the path of persistence? Or some modern innovations like ‘reality shows’ are steppingstone in form of legal fotcut?

We’ve been hearing this for ages that being persistent will make you achieve what you desire. Is it really true? If yes, is it worth? What does one achieve/lose in the process? In any field we see pioneers who have been persistent with their principles and their belief in their vision.

We’ve seen the richest man Warren Buffet believing in his principal of investing in financial instruments when there is fear in other investors. The sheer persistence in this belief has brought him to the Numero Uno position. The great Aussi front liner Glenn McGrath who had been persistent in his line and length in contrast to other pace bowlers and despite his lack of pace, he has been a perennial threat to the opposition. The biggest example for me, however, is Nelson Mandela who became the first black and the greatest President in the history of South Africa despite his several failures in personal and profession life until he became the President. There are many others including Thomas Edison, Mahatma Gandhi etc. However, all these greats have compromised a lot in their respective fields and personal lives.

Is it worth to compromise for perseverance? It is the choice one has to make and question oneself and remain persistent, if ‘YES’ is the answer to the following questions.

• Is it the passion/dream I always aspired for?
• Do the pros outweigh the cons that may occur in striving for the objective?
• Am I ready to make the compromise(s) required in my personal life?
• Will I be able to cherish the success after achieving it?
  

To conclude, there are no absolutes in life. Every situation is relative, every solution is relative. To succeed, be or don’t be persistent but don’t be JUDGMENTAL.
